Hello ladies,
It’s Fall and it’s finally starting to cool down a little in California which is so exciting because I can FINALLY start putting out all of my warm and comfy clothing. The best part about fall is the cool weather in the early mornings and having to bundle up to keep warm. From rich colors like burgundies, deep greens, and plum purples to the textures of corticoid, linens, or denim all are great staples for everyone to have in their closets.
Many of you might even already have most of these items in your closet. So don’t be afraid to dust them off.
1. Denim Jackets
I have two denim jackets that are my ride or die. They are great for transitioning seasons like Fall because they are light enough to be warn when it’s not too cold or hot. I have one from Levi’s a dark denim and another one from Lucky Brand in a light denim. They are great for layering when it starts to get colder as well and are very versatile.
2. Cardigans
I tend to wear cardigans often during fall season because they are not as heavy as parkas or winter jackets. To be honest, I love cardigans that I can basically swim in. Well, not literally, but I love when they are oversize and they feel like having a blanket with arm holes in it. I also have smaller cardigans that are in between cardigan material and a long sleeve shirt and those are also nice for a more tight fit outfit.
3. Long Sleeve Tops
In a very similar vain long sleeve tops are great because they can vary from thick thermal long sleeves to a thin long sleeve. I love shopping for basics and I feel like first stocking up on whites, blacks, tans, and grays and slowing adding other colors to any closet can make these tops last for a while.
4. Leather Jackets
Okay, this is a staple that I NEED to get in my wardrobe. I’ve been in the search for the perfect jacket that is good quality but doesn’t break the bank. I have one that is my favorite it is a leather jackets with silver buttons of starts and various shapes. I love it, but I know that I need something more sleek and that is less of a statement like the one that I currently own. I’ve also started looking at brown leather jackets and think that those look easily as timeless.
5. Blazers
From structure blazers to lose fitting ones these are great because they also work great with layering. They can be worn in a more sophisticated business or business casual look or an academic/ school girl kind of look.
9. Trench coats
I really like trench coats because they make me feel like Autumn in London. It doesn’t have to be Burberry but places like Zara and Mango carry a few of them throughout the season. I would suggest keeping your eyes out for these.
10. Skirts & Dresses
Dresses and skirts can also be warn during fall and even shorts. I recently purchase these shorts from Abercrombie & Fitch and they are in this beautiful beige color in a linen material and I order them because they will be great to use for summer, spring and even fall. I can put on a pair of stockings underneath or wear them with my knee high boots which cover most of my legs. Dresses can also be worn in a similar style.
11. Scarves
I’m definitely in the hunt for more scarves this year. I have two that are my ride or die and they keep me toasty warm during fall, but mostly during winter. My most recent one has muted tones and I love it pairing it just about anything. Here are some of my favorite that I have found.
12. Denim Jeans
I know Denim jeans is one of those staples that has to be in basically every season, except for summer and spring where I prefer denim shorts or skirts. During the Fall I love a good denim jean which is why my current favorite is this black Levi jeans. I knew that I would wear them so much that I ended up getting two pairs and boy was I right.
13. Boots
Boots should be staple for everyones closet. They are so versatile, you can wear them with basically anything AND most importantly they keep you warm. Whether you opt for a knee high boot or ankle booties you can’t go wrong with this always trendy item in your closet.
14. Socks
I use cute fall socks less so to keep me warm during fall. Especially because it is not something that you need for the California Falls they don’t get that cold. However, I love when socks stick out of boots and they are peaking a little from lace or ruffles or even a cute print. Socks can be a great way to add color or texture to any outfit.
15. Lounge Wear
Last, but definitely not least is lounge wear and Pajama set’s I kind of put these together because to me they are in the same (Even though technically they aren’t). There is something about a new pair of sweat pants or cozy pajama jumpers that just make fall, fall.
It’s fun to dress up but for me, being the home body that I am there is just something so special about sitting at home in the comfiest cloths, with a soft knitted blanket wrapped around you, the sound of rain, the warm scent of cinnamon tea, and the pages of a book so soft and delicate waiting to be given life when you read them out loud. That is Fall for me in a nutshell.
I hope you guys found this helpful and inspirational. What is a fall stable you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments below!
