How I Set Up My Bullet Journal For The Month Of November + A Look Into My Finances

Okay, I may have not been the only one that struggled to keep up with her goals this year but there are still two months left in 2020 and this is a great opportunity to go out with a bang. This year, a color that really stood out to me was green and maybe that was a sign of the universe about potential money or it was about peace, which based on how 2020 has been. I’m hoping that it’s both.

I was looking through my posts on Pinterest and noticed that this one particular bullet journal post has a lot of likes and it has been my most popular post up to date. It reminded me of how much fun I had creating it. Which is why I decided to create one for my November budget for 2020. If you will like to check out my November Bullet Journal 2018 with a Harry Potter Theme, check it out!

THE COVER PAGE

I started by creating the cover page, again this was inspired by my favorite flower, peonies, where I have a whole board dedicated to these blush pink peonies and I also added lots of greenery because just like trees and flowers I want to flourish and grow and that was a theme for me this year.

To be honest, I’m not the greatest artist and the flowers aren’t perfect but it was a great and creative way to just express myself.

If you are also not good about drawing flowers I found this video that was helpful, I didn’t follow it to the letter, but I had fun and you can see what they were meant to look like and what they ended up being on mine.

Also, if you are in need of some calligraphy words I highly suggest Pinterest because that is where I got mine. You don’t necessarily need to follow the fonts that I use. I always get inspired by other people’s Bullet Journals but like to tweak them a little to personalize them to my taste. That is one thing that I really like about Bullet Journal, it’s that you don’t have to follow what other people are doing just have fun with it.

I also googled some images on how to draw peonies and this is what came up…

MONTHLY BUDGET & EXPENSE TRACKER

The second page is my monthly budget and I also have an expense tracker and I’ll explain both in further detail.

MONTHLY BUDGET

The monthly budget has my three financial goals for the month. For me, this month was knowing how much I was going to spend for Christmas presents, focusing on my savings, and also budgeting the costs of moving out because I’m moving to a different city.

I also wrote down the incoming amount of money and I wrote down the days that I get paid. I left a small slot in the bottom if I get more incoming money that month.

In this category I try to keep it to fixed expenses that I know are essential or that I know I have recurring. From eent, cell-phone bills, subscriptions, and insurance. I know I have to place these in my budget for the month no matter what. I also like to write them down because it gives me an idea of how much money I need for the bare bone basics and which things I can easily cut out.

EXPENSE TRACKER

Then, on the next page, I have my expenses tracker. Here I track gas and food and things that I can budget myself more easily. These are things that fluctuate on the month based on what is going on. Since it’s November I know that my expenses for this month and the following are going to rise because I am buying Christmas presents and because of the Holidays.

SAVING UP GOAL

Finally, my last one is something that I’ve been meaning to start a while back, but 2020 pushed me into the gear of saving money to buy my own home. It sucks that I have to be forced to move around and I don’t have a stable home and one of my goals is to work on that for the upcoming year but before the year ends I want to have a good head start this year and I’m so glad that I started because if Covid has taught us anything this year is that it is so valuable to have a space of our own, a home. It is still now complete but if you want to see the end result, follow me on Pinterest. I’ll be posting pictures there.

CONCLUSION

Let me know if you would like to see my pay off plan. If you didn’t know already I am following the Dave Ramsey Baby Steps Plan and I’m so grateful that I completed the first step and now I am working towards eliminating more debt this upcoming year and as much as possible in 2020 while I still can.
