Beauty Products that I have been loving lately

The phrase,  “less is more”  is something that I have adopted into my life, especially as I get older. I’m more intentional about what I buy and not just following trends. This statement had become even more true with beauty products.

My goal this year was to use what I already have. If I love it, I will take a picture of it and re-purchase it in the future. If I use it and it wasn’t impressive I will finish it, but not repurchase again.

Athena Club – Love Letter

I had finished my shaving gel and decided to purchase a new one. I love the scent so much and realized they had a lotion, body spray, and body wash and had to purchase it immediately. It’s a sophisticated scent, but still youthful. It has notes of velvet iris, pink pepper, and creamy woods. I’m pairing it with Burberry Goddess perfume (I have had this one for a while) and Autumn Violet from Bath and Body Works ( I have also had this one for a while). Pairing a body spray and a perfume with similar or complimentary notes makes something feel new.

Clarifying Shampoo

A tip that I have noticed made the biggest difference in my hair was double washing and clarifying shampoo. This is what I mean when I say that what works for someone might not work for you. I also tried to follow the trend of not washing your hair every day and having hair wash days, but that does not work for my hair. I have fine hair that would get really oily at the root and I had dried ends. I started double washing and using a clarifying shampoo and it made the biggest difference in my hair. I noticed so much more growth.

 SPF 50+

Growing up I didn’t wear SPF because of the white cast, but now SPF has become a daily ritual for me. I know now the importance of helping prevent wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage. I tried different ones like a spray, an invisa-stick and a moisturizer. My favorite so far has been the moisturizer and I purchased mine on Amazon. My goal is to make it a constant habit.

Loreal True Match Foundation

Liquid gold. One of my favorite finds this year was this foundation. It’s light weight, but covers a lot. In my late 20s to 30s my skin changed from oily to more dry and I found that foundations would be too patchy on me no matter how much I moisturized and it looked cakey. This foundation is light and water based. It’s easy to build.

Skin Care Holy Grails

Best skin care products based on someone who had hormonal acne as a teen (and occasionally has acne like that). Azelaic Topic Acid 10% and Tretinoin 0.05% you can slowly start to build your resistance. Tatcha Indigo Night Repair cream. It’s hydrating without feeling sticky or difficult to blend in.

Quality Clothing

I try not to purchase on impulse (does not always happen), but looking at what the product is made out of and if it’s worth the cost. I’m looking for cotton, silk, wool, etc. Sadly, clothing is not made to last anymore and while styles are great I want to wear something cute but that will last and is actually worth the money.

Do you have any products that are your must haves?
