It’s Sunday, and the first week of December is coming to an end. I came across a great video that motivated me on TikTok. The creator is Jay. She had a video that really inspired me, but even before that video I was thinking. ‘Wow, December feels magical somehow like a chance to have a fresh start before the New Year.” I have been guilty before of waiting till the New Year came around. But since getting older one of the biggest lessons that I have learned is not taking things for granted and taking each day as a blessing.
Here are some things that I started incorporating this December that helped me still feel productive and start off the year in a good state of mind.
First, I started by purchasing my agendas for the new year. I love planners and stationery. This year, I repurchased for the 5th time in a row the Dream Workbook planner. I love this planner and it has become a staple for me. I repurchased the Colibri Co. This is my second year with this planner and I love the quality, but I am still trying to figure out the best way for a new planner for me this year is Laura Daniel. It’s definitely a brand new method and I can’t wait to try it out.
I love making my journals into colorful places. This year, I bought glittery pens, stencils and ink for them. I started this in 2025 and created more of a memory log and being intentional with my designs, etc.
I started with simple habits such as waking up early. Sleeping early to get 8-9 hours of sleep (I feel the most well rested with 9 hours of sleep).
I had been so stressed about work and everything that I had going on that I was drinking just coffee early in the morning and not really eating breakfast and something that has helped has been making sure that I eat a meal every morning and that helped me with energy, etc in November I gave up coffee and started drinking tea instead and I liked it. I just love coffee way too much. Every once in a while I like to detox from coffee for a month or so and that makes me really appreciate it more.
I started my Domino goals. These are goals that create a domino effect in my life. My top four domino goals this year are Career, Finance, Health, and Organization. I do have smaller micro goals. But everyday I will be creating a section on my calendar to get closer to each of these goals every month. Each goal has steps and the purpose of this is to have four strong goals that create a domino effect and help me in other areas of my life. For instance, career if I change my career and earn more income that will help out with finances. Which will give me more freedom like having a gym membership or traveling more, etc.
This year, for many of us it was a year of shedding the ugly. It was the year of the snake and there were moments of pain and growth, but there were also small moments of joy and happiness. While reflecting on the year and using December as a starting point it is very important we remember that.
I started reading the bible more this year along with reading The Artists Way and it has taught me a lot of lessons that I know I am taking into 2026.
It’s not about starting in 2026 like a whole brand new person trying to change our entire lives and only lasting two weeks before we are back to our old habits, but instead starting small and showing gratitude for the small and big things in our lives.
I hope 2026 treats you all well and that everything you have dreamt of and wish for comes true.
