Hey You!
I wanted to pop in for a minute and write out some things I’ve had in my mind lately.
First, is that I cannot believe it’s almost the of November 2017. I swear this year passed in a blur. I titled this blog post THE PROBLEM WITH PERFECTION because I find that I want things to turn out a certain way. I have a type A personality, I will admit. Which is both good and bad. I tend to put allot of pressure on myself to do things Perfectly.
As I have gotten older however I find myself learning to stop this vicious cycle. Perfection is the killer of all good things. When we obsess over something coming out just the right way. There will never be a right way. So why not just focus on doing the things that we do have under our control and giving it our best that we have now.
For instance, when I started blogging back in 2016 I didn’t post for a whole year because I would say things to myself like. I will post it when it’s perfect. or I can’t publish this I don’t have beautiful breath taking pictures.
What I am saying is that we can’t compare ourselves to other people and we can’t hold ourselves to such high standards. Use other people as a source of inspiration and not as a source of comparison. Everyone starts somewhere and little by little we grow and we get our own craft down.
And I think that is the beauty of it too, the struggle, and not knowing what you are doing so it’s fun and if you do something “wrong” then you can always learn from it and fix it.
Remember that at the end of the day what we want to do we have to do it at the best of our ability. So if blogging doesn’t apply to you, there are so many areas in our lives that we stop with perfect and focus on now. Maybe you want to take dance classes, but you think, I can’t right now I’m not good enough, but when I get a new pair of shoes I’ll go.
Right now is what we do have guaranteed so take the time to use right now as a place to start.
CLEAN SLATE
Know that I identified where I was struggling. I decided to be forgive myself and start a clean slate.
Think about something in your life that you have been wanting to improve and then when you write down what is holding you back, and be as honest as possible no one is going to judge you and no one is going to benefit more than you. So be honest. and Let yourself grow.
