We are a little past the 6 month mark of this year. August usually signifies change and that is something that this year has forced me to embrace more than ever. Either by returning back to school for students or educators, or the transition from Summer to Fall.
I spoke about one of the tools/systems that I have used for years to keep me on track with my goals on my blog post here: How to use your planner to help with self care and mental clarity.
My goals are usually split into categories: Career, Travel/Adventure, Creativity, Physical and Mental Health, Financial, Relationships, Lifestyle, Home, Lifestyle, Hobbies, Spiritual, and Home.
Overall, I would rate my goals and how much I have achieved 6.5/10. As I reflect on the year. Even if it is not the highest rating, it does not turn into a blame game or feeling of self-pity. Instead, there is so much I gained this year despite losing a lot.
Career
This has probably had the most change out of anything else in my life. I stopped teaching at a specific school that I was working at. I started back with Real Estate and pass the test. Something that I had put on pause while I completed my credential. I cleared my credential in June.
If you are a California Teacher you know how much time and effort that takes. I am currently working on completing my Real Estate exam. I also want to get back into blogging and want to start vlogging and creating content consistently. It would be amazing to find another creative way of self-expression. Through writing, photography, and video editing. Overall, I want to have more creativity in my career.
Travel
I have not traveled or made it a priority as much as I would like to have so far. There are so many places both locally and internationally that have been on my bucket list that I would love to see and explore. I am turning 32 this year and for the first time I would love to take a real vacation somewhere fun or do something exciting.
Health – Mental/Physical
I started going to therapy consistently at the beginning of the year and it has been helpful for my mental health. I have also been keeping track of going on more walks and this year I had done more compared to last year. Although, something I wanted to do was take swimming classes this summer and I did not get the chance to. However, there are so many fun fitness goals that I want to develop. Like playing tennis again, consistently or ice skating would be really fun too.
Financial
While leaving my teaching position I did take a small step back when it comes to my finances and how much I am earning. I would love to increase my income to pay off my car and also remodel some area of our house. I also have invested money into my Roth IRA and a regular brokerage account. I might need to slow down a little with that goal since leaving my position while I get my real estate license
Relationships
This is an area of my life that I feel I have been neglecting a-lot. The later half of the year I want to focus on this. This is from friendships to dating. I struggled to get out of the house and met up with friends. A top priority for the second half of 2026 is building solid relationships and finding friendships with people who have similar goals and interests as me.
Home
There is a lot of change when it comes to my life. My home life has been changing. In this area of my life I want to find balance. I want to create a place that truly feels like a home. I live with my family and really want to take the steps necessary to move out on my own.
Lifestyle
At the beginning of the year I did not feel like I was in charge of my schedule and the way that I wanted my day to look like. I want to be in charge of my day to day. Also, like I said before I am turning 32 this year, I am focusing on how I look as well. As I have gotten older I want my style, the way I carry myself, etc. to reflect what I enjoy.
Spiritual
I feel closer to God. This year, while going through some moments that shook my world. Reading the bible and getting closer to god have really helped out with my mental health, but given me more empathy towards the world. Especially, since it feels like it’s negative news after negative news. I feel like in this area of life I have gotten closer to God more than ever.
Hobbies
I was okay with hobbies this year. I bought books that I have been wanting to read for a while. As the fall-winter season approaches, that is when I love to do more indoor hobbies like coloring, painting, reading books, and watching tv-shows. So far, I have done smaller things like reading and my favorite has been watching Chinese dramas.
For the next 6 months *5 months now. I will focus on one to two goals for each area of my life.
