We are moving (by we I mean my roommates and I) My favorite part of having my own space is always the interior design. I love watching people do house and room tours because it inspires me to change up my space.
So this new place is no different. I truly believe that our environment changes our mood and can make us feel at home and reflect our personality.
Because we are less than a month away from moving I decided to grab some inspiration for my new room. I currently have a twin size bed that works great and all, but I feel like I am ready to move on to a grown up bed. I’m still debating between a full or queen.
I also don’t own allot of furniture besides my bed and my desk and my small night stand, but because I find that I spend allot of time in my desk I decided to DIY a desk of my own. Like I mentioned in my last post, I am on a budget which means I have to be really creative in how I can create a desk with loads of work space and also make it functional.
I have found a few ideas online, but I’m really leaning towards this one by Mr. Kate that I feel in love the first time I saw it. Its modern and simple. And the best part it doesn’t require too much. She links everything she used if you guys are also interested. In Mr. Kate’s post they created an island for someones kitchen, and since I am trying to create a desk It really shows that you can create for what suits you best.
If you look at my Pinterest page (which I highly recommend link is on the side bad) I have a few boards dedicated to Interior Design and besides those and watching other peoples spaces I am really inspired by naturals like whites, light grays, and earthy tones of greens (by plants) to small and subtle hints like fairy lights and flowers to make it feel feminine.
These are a few images/articles from other people that I find are my inspiration for my new space:
01. Gold accents
Gold adds such a modern touch to any space. The room can be very standard but by adding small accents of gold through curtain rods (Which I plan to do) can make a big difference. If the gold ones cost more and/or you already have a rod, try spray painting it gold. It is such a great weekend DIY project that can create such a statement on any space and for a great price.
02. Natural Woods
I love the look of natural woods against soft colors like gray and white. This is where I plan to create my desk with natural wood it makes the room look airy and also provides a nice space to get some work done.
03. Images
Since I moved into the room that I am currently I have had this idea to have three images hanging above my bed. All three images black and white and the frame in gold. I think it looks so chick, but also is a great way to display the most important people in my life.
04. Airy Whites
I love a bed with white bedding or light gray bedding because it looks like a fluffy cloud that you just want to jump in. These are a few inspirations for my own bed.
05. Flowers and Greenery
Having a bit of natural flowers or plants can make a room feel welcoming. My personal favorite flowers are pink peonies, they look so feminine and cute which adds pops of color to my color scheme without making it too intense. Also, you can add plants to make it green and feel more lively.
06. Books for display
I love the look that books give a place. I especially love when they match, however, I also really found this idea so creative and a great way to display books. You turn the around and instead of the spine facing forward the other side of the book is facing forward. It gives such a nice and natural touch in my opinion.
07. Mirrors
They can be big mirrors or circle mirrors, but any kind of mirror really adds light back into your space. This is especially important if you have a smaller space because adding a full length mirror can make the room feel bigger and gives the illusion that there is more space than there actually is.
Let me know if you enjoyed this blog post in the comments below and if you would like to see a completed tour of my own bedroom and how I end up decorating it. I would love to show you guys what I come up with.
It’s definitely going to be budget friendly, so if you guys are interested in that kind of thing let me know
xoxo, yadi
