Hey lovely, First off Happy New Year!
I’m super excited for this fresh chapter of our lives. Even though the new year is just a date and I believe we can start reinventing and being our best self-everyday, there is something special about January.
I’m a goal oriented gal all year round, but find that this time of the year makes me super nerdy to go out and buy new notebooks, pens, and agendas.
Although I’m no longer in school, I still enjoy going out in search for the perfect agenda and a beautiful notebook to be filled with my to-do lists, creative ideas, and the occasional doodle FYI.
And because without my agenda, I would be lost (I’m being 100% serious about this btw), I thought it would be really cool to give you all an insight into the ways that I use my agenda to keep on top of my new year’s goals.
TIPS TO KEEP IN MIND
01. Color coordinate –
I like to write a key in my agenda and one thing I focus on is color coding. I like to categorize things like my job, my blog, working out, being social etc.
Whenever I look at my agenda I know what I’ll be working on that day without reading what I wrote down.
Plus its really pretty to look at the end of the week filled with color and honestly that is one of the reasons why I enjoy writing in my agenda, I like to have fun with pens and markers.
02. Time yourself –
If there are things that have to get done, but they can be such a drag.
A tip that I have learned works for me is timing something.
Do you have to sit down and pay bills? Time it! Give yourself 30 minutes to an hour and just focus on doing that one task. Put a timer on your phone and don’t allow yourself to get distracted by anything else. When the timer is done, more than likely you are probably done accomplishing that task.
03. Insert dates you already have coming up –
Have a friends birthday up ahead. Add it to your agenda first thing that way when you have something coming up you can plan accordingly.
04. Have more than one agenda –
I know some people prefer to have everything on a single agenda that way they don’t miss anything. it’s understandable, and I always say do what works for you. Personally, I find it very helpful to have more than one agenda. I have two. which isn’t too excessive.
In one I like to call it my messy agenda. This is where I write everything down in an unorganized order. I still try to color coordinate with this one, but if I don’t its fine. It’s mostly about reminders to myself.
Then, my second agenda is where I like to have fun with it. I love adding stickers, colorful wash tape, writing with fun pens etc. This is the agenda were It’s not only a reminder of productivity, but it also looks appealing.
At the end of the week, I like to reflect on the week and look at all the things that I did accomplish It makes me feel super pump for the next week.
05. Schedule time to write everything down –
crossing things off my agenda is probably one of the best feelings. Especially when I get my day started and by 7:30 am I have almost half of my entire to-do list completed.
I think it’s important to have a day, I like to have my weekends, now that I have them free to just sit down and write things out for the week. maybe I want to workout Monday thru Thursday If I have it written down, especially on my really nice agenda I don’t want to ruin it by writing it down and completing the task.
Even if it’s just an hour in the mornings before you get started with your day or if it’s at night before you go to sleep. Make it part of your routine to check in on your week ahead and don’t forget to reflect on the week like what you did great and what you can improve on.
