Things To Do Before 2020

Things To Do Before 2020

It is insane that we are heading to a whole new year, a whole new decade. We only have less than a handful of days to start thinking about goals and the things that we want to achieve. Here are some things to check off from your to-do list to start 2020 on a clean slate.

01. DECLUTTER

This year I was really intrigued by the idea of having less and how that would help out my life. We Just had new floors installed which meant that we had to take everything out and it was a bit like moving. Usually, when we move we have the time to go through things and see if they serve us a purpose. I took this as an opportunity to clear things out of my room. For instance, a TV that I never used, a bag of clothing that I had been meaning to donate for a while but finally found the time to donate it.

Of course, you can start small maybe by a drawer one day and then slowly move to other areas of your house. Maybe you can do a challenge of getting rid of things one at a time and donating them.

02. CREATE A DREAM BOARD

I created a post about a year ago about a dream board. I still have that dream board, but instead of placing it on my wall I placed it on a set of pages and those are representations for goals that I have. Goal setting and visualization go hand in hand for me. Printing out a set of pictures that represent the life that I want to have really helps me out in keeping that goal alive and striving every day to achieve that goal.

03. OR A MOOD BOARD

I decided this year to do a mood board and it’s basically like a dream board, but more specific. My blog is a very creative space and I love writing about things and I tend to grab inspiration for topics of photos or anything like that from magazines, pictures, food, and smells, and even life experiences.

I create a board that represents that. Some times I’m in love with a texture or a color or a feeling of something and pictures represent that and having a mood board really represents something that I can push out and inspire me at that moment.

 04. REFLECT

The New Year is a great time to reflect on things that worked and didn’t work. Even doing this as a weekly or monthly basis thing helps you bite down on a smaller scale. For Instance, reflecting if what you did that week helped you in any way to be closer to the goals that you want to achieve. For Instance, if you want to live a minimalist lifestyle then did you do something that week to work towards that goal?

 05. START RIGHT NOW

By the time you read this New Year will be around the corner in a matter of one or two days which means that goals don’t have to start on a Monday always or you won’t start tomorrow. Start right now at this moment. Of course, if you’re like, How am I going to pay off x amount of debt in two days… well, it’s not like that at all. It’s more of like what can I do today to achieve this goal. You could create a plan where you pay off that amount. You can create a timeline where you write down when you think you might achieve this goal and when you think that you can pay off the amount of money that you owe.

EXTRA TIP: Buy an agenda or a plain notebook and write down the things that you wish to accomplish this year. Reflect on what didn’t work previously and also on things that bring you happiness. What gets you out of bed every single day? Make these things a priority, make them goals that you achieve every single day. I’m such a stationery geek and I feel elated when I’m writing on a brand new agenda for the first time. It really gives you that feeling of a brand new chapter in your life and so many blank pages ahead waiting to be filled.

If you would love planning and agendas and bullet journals then keep your eyes out for it in the future.

Also, don’t forget to follow my social media where I keep a to of inspiration posts and hopefully you’ll feel inspired this year to do something out of your comfort zone.
