A little background on my skin:
I have combination skin. Some parts of my skin are a bit more dry than other, but for the most part, my skin feels normal. However, I’ve noticed such a big difference in my skin this year. It’s super flaky and I get allot of cracks in my skin. Which is why I’m not the biggest fan of winter weather. Here are some things that have helped me improve the feel and the appearance of my skin.
01. Face wipes
I’m the first to admit that I haven’t been too kind to my skin. Sometimes I’m so tired that I forget to take off my makeup properly. You know, not just a splash of water. Instead, I like to carry face wipes. Before I even start my skincare routine I like to wipe off all the makeup from the day. Even if I’m not wearing any make up that day I like to wipe down my skin from all the dirt my skin has collected.
02. Face Wash
After I like to go in with a gentle face wash. I really love the First Aid Beauty face wash it’s gentle and doesn’t have any fragrance smell. Right now, I ran out so I’m using the Boscia it works really great as well. Especially because I love the way it foams up and a little bit goes a long way. I got mine from Sephora as a birthday sample and it has lasted me so long.
03. Moisturize with oil
At night I like to use some type of serum or oil. I like using this one by Khiels because it has so many good ingredients like, Pure Essential Oils and Distilled Botanicals which help Restore the appearance of the skin. By morning time my skin feels super soft and clean. That’s so important because when you sleep your skin is recuperating.
04. Sunscreen
I like to apply sunscreen through the day under my skin care I love Kate Somerville Daily Deflector Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 50 + and when I ran out another great substitution was an inexpenzive SPF stick. Even in the winter time when the sun isn’t as intense, it’s really good to protect your skin.
I suffer from hyper-pigmentation which the suns darken any pimples that are left behind and also protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun not only makes the skin feel good, but also look good.
05. Face mask
Once a week or every two weeks I like to do a face mask. There are so many great face mask out there from sheet masks to moisturizing masks and for so many different skin needs. At the end of the week, I like to give my skin a little more time and really pamper it. Usually on weekends when I’m getting my room clean, going grocery shopping, etc I don’t wear makeup and I give my skin the time to breath and really be natural for at least two days.
06. Steaming the skin
I’ve noticed such a big difference in my skin texture when I do this. Once a month I like to steam my skin. First I boil warm water in a saucepan or I put a bowl of water in the microwave until the water is hot and steamy.
After I let it cool down just a little so that I don’t burn myself off. With no makeup on my face or anything really I like to put my face close to the water and let all of the steam of the water open up my pores.
Usually, my skin is sweaty and hot. By the time the water cools down enough I grab a small towel and start dabbing the towel in the water and then I put the cloth on my skin.
After I like to go in with a charcoal face mask and put it on my face I let it sit for a few minutes (10 minutes) then I come back and remove the charcoal mask with the same cloth that I used before and using the same warm water to really open up my pores.
After I moisturize with oils and massage them into my skin.
07. Pimples and Acne
I swear my skin acts like I’m still a teenager because I break-out so much. Which is why decided to do my research and invest in a really good acne solution and I found this little bottle of miracle. It’s from Mario Badescu and it’s amazing. it has Salicylic Acid and I dab it in with a q-tip to my skin sleep with it and the next day my pimple is either gone or significantly reduced and it’s no longer red or inflamed.
There you have it folks my simple winter skincare routine.
